A remarkable carved wooden wall panel, mounted on a textured steel back plate.
Apparently carved from a single panel of wood, a wonderful array of smooth and rough textures.
Signed T Demetz. I can't find any information on the artist. The Demetz family have long been associated with wood carving in the Val Gardena area of Italy. However, those carvings are largely realistic ecclesiastical figures. Maybe this is the work of a wayward brother or sister!
The wooden panel is steeped out from the metal backing plate. The whole piece projecting out several centimetres.
An incredible abstract piece.
