Helmut Andreas Paul Grieshaber (1909-81).
Better known as HAP,
Grieshaber was a German artist and printmaker particularly known for his woodcuts.
A life long pacifist and political dissenter, both during and after wartime, he was a man ahead of his time, championing conservation and ecological causes and protesting nuclear power.
Many of these ideologies run through his work.
He is probably best known in his native Germany, but his work is held in collections throughout the world including the V&A and MoMA.

This print hows a very gentle scene in lovely muted colours.

It's in good condition, with just a little yellowing to the paper.

The frame measures just a little over 35cm x 35cm.

The frame is black with a washed gold effect, as shown.

It is hand signed in pencil to the top right.
